The Eliza Island Beach Club is seeking a two-person caretaker team for a full-time live-in caretaker position on beautiful Eliza Island in the San Juan Islands of Washington State.
This is a rare opportunity to live and work in a private island community located just 8 miles offshore from Bellingham, Washington, in the heart of the Pacific Northwest.
Because of the nature of the responsibilities, two individuals are required to share the workload and live on-site. Applicants may apply as a team, partners, friends, or a couple.
Eliza Island is a unique private island community featuring two square miles of beaches, forest, and shoreline, with shared amenities including a runway, dock, mooring buoys, playground, beaches, and community facilities. Many visitors describe Eliza as one of the most special places in the Pacific Northwest.
Everyone who comes to Eliza tends to fall in love with the island.
This live-in caretaker position is ideal for individuals who enjoy a hands-on lifestyle, outdoor work, property stewardship, and interacting with homeowners and visitors in a small community setting.
Position Overview
The caretaker team is responsible for helping maintain and oversee the island’s shared amenities and community infrastructure. This role combines landscaping, light maintenance, property oversight, and community interaction.
Responsibilities include assisting with the care and upkeep of island facilities, supporting landscaping and maintenance projects, monitoring infrastructure, and helping ensure that shared areas remain welcoming and well maintained.
Caretakers will also assist with monitoring key systems that support the island, including the desalination system that produces drinking water from salt water.
This position is best suited for individuals who enjoy remote living, working outdoors, problem solving, and contributing to a unique island community environment.
Applicants should be comfortable living in a remote island setting accessible by boat or small aircraft.
Compensation Package
The compensation package for the caretaker team includes:
- Salary
• On-island housing
• Utilities
• Medical allowance
• Transportation assistance

The total compensation package ranges from approximately $110,000 to $123,600 depending on experience.
